World Series Game 2 Recap

Below are observations from Game 2 of the 2011 World Series:

- Jaime Garcia is the 2nd Mexican-born pitcher to start a World Series game. The first was Fernando Valenzuela back in 1981. It's hard to believe that Fernando Mania was 30 years ago!

- I went to a Houston Astros game a few years ago and received a foam paw commemorating Big Puma's 300th home run. It took a few innings for me to realize it was in honor of Lance Berkman. I figured a teammate somewhere along the way gave him that moniker, but I did not know until tonight that he gave himself that nickname. Stay classy Lance.

- I am a huge Kansas City Royals fan. I lived in Kansas City from 1984-1991 when players like George Brett, Bo Jackson, and Frank White ruled the diamond. I watch most every game and can bore you with all kinds of Royals facts and trivia. However, I did not know and do not remember Colby Lewis pitching for KC back in 2007. I'm assuming his tenure there was pretty unassuming.

- This is my kind of baseball. I love watching low scoring games dominated by pitching and defense. I (like everyone else) did not expect to see this kind of baseball from these two teams, but am thoroughly enjoying it.

- Allen Craig has to be the MVP up to this point. I doubt a pinch hitter has ever won the award, but he has been Mr. Clutch for the Cardinals.

- A total of 8 runs has been scored so far in this series. What makes this so surprising is that each team is capable of scoring 8 runs in one inning. I would be surprised if this trend continues.
