What I Learned On My Thanksgiving Vacation

Our family had the opportunity to travel to Missouri during the Thanksgiving break to see many of our family and friends. We will be heading back to Wisconsin tomorrow, but here are a few things I have learned on my Thanksgiving vacation.

- You may love your family. You may simply like your family. Or...you might not even like your family that much. However, at the end of the day they are still your family and it is something to be cherished. My hope is that you had a chance to be with your family during the Thanksgiving holiday.

- 60 years is a long period of time for anything, especially marriages. My grandparents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday with a banquet in their honor. What a milestone! It was also great to see aunts, uncles, and cousins who now live all over the country make a special effort to be there for the event.

- Southwest Airlines is very kid friendly. We hardly ever fly Southwest, but may have to consider them more often.

- The Missouri Tigers men's basketball team is really good. I knew they would be good, but so far this season they are 6-0 and have not had a close game yet. As of now they are ranked in the Top 20 coming in at #13 (and ahead of Kansas!).

- Though I was not able to watch the Missouri vs. Kansas Border Showdown football game it was great to listen to Mike Kelly, the voice of the Tigers, call the action. It has been a long time since I have heard Mike call a game, but he is as good now as he ever was.

- The Kansas City Chiefs may never win a Super Bowl in my lifetime. After watching last night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers I am more convinced now than ever.

- Erin's youngest sister, Sarah, is engaged to get married. Congratulations Sarah and Brendan!

- When taking a bath Anderson can make a pretty decent bubble beard. The funny part is EJ thinks Anderson with a beard apparently looks  a lot like Jesus. Knowing Anderson's mischievous 5 year old boy ways I have never once mistaken Anderson for Jesus.

- What is better than playing baseball outside in 70 degree weather after a Thanksgiving meal?

- Sleeping in on Black Friday is WAY better than getting up crazy early or depriving yourself of sleep for days to get a discount on merchandise.

And with that said we are now beginning to wrap up our trip and getting ready to head back to wintry Wisconsin. I hope that you and yours had a great Thanksgiving and that you will have a blessed upcoming Christmas season!
